August 2011 - Kansas

This is going to be a LONG trip, I hear. Rebecca and Barry are going on a weeks vacation and I've rested up for whatever comes my way. We met Wilma and Richard in Rochel, IL and ate dinner together.

The next day we saw Ronald Reagan's hometown.

We stopped in Iowa, and are on our way to Kansas again!

I'm getting to really enjoy my ancestor's hometown! I love to hear the stories about Sadie! Rebecca talks abou tthe book she is writing. Just being here makes me feel like I know Sadie already. Can't wait to read the book!

August 2010 - Kansas

So...I am going to Kansas!! Rebecca and Wilma are going on a geneology jaunt and they say I can go! Wilma flew into Lincoln and while Rebecca was waiting for her, she went scounting to...the courthouse.
I posed and couldn't believe how hot it was! Couldn't wait to get indoors, even though it was a boring afternoon with papers and things I didn't understand. After Wilma arrived, I rested in the van while they chatted.
Ingleboro Mansion B&B
I fell asleep and awakened in a beautiful B&B!

Loved my time here, learned lots about this girl Sadie and her family. Wonderful people. This is the site of her school.

I went back with Wilma, ready for a rest.

July 2010 - Maryland

I hear Rebecca is planning on meeting Wilma in Nebraska on the 2nd of August. Then they are driving to Kansas. I hope I get to go with them. They plan on doing research for the story Rebecca is writing about a relative named Sadie. Sadie was Paul Castang's grandmother.

I asked Rebecca if I could go with her to Nebraska and she said, "Sure."

July 2010 - Maryland

On Saturday, July 3rd, Annie finally took me to the 6:00 am prayer meeting. That was enjoyable. The temperature in the mornings in Hagerstown was in the upper 50s. Sure did feel good. After prayer meeting, we had breakfast downstairs.
The Castang family was responsible for fixing lunch. Of course, I got to be in the kitchen, too. It was so much fun working with the family. My! I was afraid we was going to run out of food. There must have been close to 200 people there for lunch.

After lunch, Vivian, Darese and Melda wanted to go down to see the new dormitories they built to house some of the folks that came from far away to the Convention.

I wanted to go, too, but they didn't want to carry me around. So instead, Darese took me out to Melda's car and I didn't even get to attend the afternoon service. It was so hot in the car. I felt sick.
Finally, Melda came out to her car around 3:30 pm and we went to her house. It was so nice and cool there. I hadn't been there for a long time.

July 4th was the last day of Convention. I went to Sunday School and Church. Gary, Annie, Melda and I went to Panera Bread for lunch. I got to go to the 2:00 pm service. I was kept in a plastic freeze bag during church. I didn't mind because I didn't want to attract from the service and it was cool in there. Then I went home with Melda and Twila.

June 2010 - Lousianna

Annie says there is a Convention of the Church of God in Hagerstown that we are planning on attending. I'm so glad. Maybe it will be cooler there. It has been so hot here in LA. I'm very happy to be on the road again. So as soon as Gary comes home from work and we get the last few chores done, we are leaving.

We spent the night in Alabama. The next day we drove to Tennessee and had reservations to stay at a little log cabin. It was kinda in the mountains. Gary and Annie celebrated their 7th wedding anniversary while there.
****
We left there on Sunday, June 27th. We got to Brian and Charnita's house Sunday evening. It was a long trip. It was rather warm there, too.

June 2010 - Lousiana

Well, no trip to the log cabin. Guess I'll just sit next to the AC and try to survive this crazy Lousiana heat for a couple more days until Annie takes me to Hagerstown for Convention. Please let it be cooler there!!!

April 2010 - Maryland

Annie and I got to be home to help celebrate Sarah's 45th birthday. As they are trying to lose weight, Annie made a bluebery bar for snack instead of the normal cake and ice cream. I must say, it was pretty good. There wasn't a crumb left.

Back home in Lousiana with Annie now. Looks like I'll be heading up north next week, spending a few days in the mountains in a log cabin. It sure is a hot one here in Lousianna. I wouldn't mind staying somewhere else cooler.
